Job Description


This position is responsible for the translation quality in their native language.
They set company-wide quality standards/rules for their languages, train translators and reviewers on those standards and rules, define client’s quality requirements and make sure our deliverables meet the requirements, and often conduct translation review.

  • Stay in tune with local linguistic trends and voice of the customer
  • Create and manage terminology database, making it available for translators/reviewers
  • Create and manage translation style guide, making it available for translators/reviewers
  • Maintain the quality of translation stored in translation memory
  • Create and implement training courses for translators and new team members Goal = achieve repeatability and reproducibility on translation quality
  • Work with Project Managers, Quality Manager and Vendor Manager to analyze areas of improvement and break them down into measurable action items
  • Analyze the source materials and identify potential linguistic issues
  • Define client’s quality requirements, document them, convey them to translators/reviewers, and make sure our deliverables meet the requirements
  • Take questions from translators and provide answers by asking customers if needed
  • Review translated materials and provide feedback to translators/reviewers on quality
  • Act as the primary liaison between translators and localization project managers and other in-house stakeholders
  • Act as the primary contact person for the client’s in-country reviewers
  • Conduct linguistic tasks such as translation, editing, proofreading, and final quality check if appropriate
  • Participate in regular meetings and post-mortem meetings if desired
  • Attend review meetings and represent company in translation quality assessment discussions if necessary
  • Manage linguistic corrective actions and preventive actions
  • Conduct translation spot checks and design a project plan for large projects
  • Make recommendations for vendor/translator selection with Vendor ManagerMake recommendations for translation tools to translators and internal team members
  • Propose improvement plan for higher quality, faster turnaround, and more costefficient solutions
